In August of 2016, three United States flag retirement binswere placed in Carson City by members of the Children of the AmericanRevolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution under the C.A.R.’sstate project Honoring Old Glory.
Since then, more than 2,000 unserviceable flags in need ofretirement have been deposited into these bins by citizens of Carson City.
On Friday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m. Carson City will joinmembers of the C.A.R. and the DAR in a community flag retirement ceremony to beheld on the grounds of Fuji Park.
“We hope the community residents who have taken their time toensure these flags are properly retired will join us as we pay our last respectto these flags and retire them through a pyre,” said Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell.
Carson City residents are reminded that flagretirement bins remain at the Carson City Library, City Hall and the CarsonFlag Store. Please use these flagretirement bins to ensure your American flag is properly retired.
