In our inaugural year, Carson City Fire Department had the most registrations of any agency and brought the trophy back to the north in this friendly heroes challenge.

In 2026, CCFD joined the 4th Annual Silver State Heroes Challenge Nevada Donor Network campaign, where 33+ first responder agencies compete to register the most organ, eye, and tissue donors. Outreach efforts honors Donate Life Month (April) and aims to save lives. The Challenge is a friendly competition amongst first responders throughout the state of Nevada and serves as a major community effort to increase the number of registered heroes in Nevada

Key Details of the Challenge:

• Purpose: To boost awareness and registrations for organ donation, addressing the over 700 Nevadans waiting for transplants.
• Action: First responders use outreach to encourage the public to register at specific agency-linked sites.
• Impact: One donor can save up to eight lives, and this challenge turns first responders into advocates for long-term health, not just emergency response.
• Recognition: The initiative coincides with National Donate Life Month, often featuring blue-and-green events and community outreach.
