NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Members of the public who wish to view the meeting may watch the livestream of the Historic Resources Commission meeting at www.carson.org/granicus and by clicking on “In progress” next to the meeting date, or by tuning in to cable channel 191. Livestream of the meeting is provided solely as a courtesy and convenience to the public. 5. Meeting Items:
5.A HRC-2023-0218 For possible action: Discussion and possible action regarding a proposed new landscape wall with an enclosed bulletin board on property zoned Residential Office (“RO”), located at 115 N. Division Street, Assessor’s Parcel Number (“APN”) 003-214-07. (Heather Ferris, hferris@carson.org)
Staff Summary: The First Presbyterian Church (“Applicant”) is proposing the construction of a new landscape wall with a 3 foot by 6 foot enclosed bulletin board on the subject property just south of the intersection of N. Nevada Street and W. Musser Street. The applicant is proposing a traditional style bulletin board with the message being changed manually. Strip LED lighting will be used to the bulletin board from behind the frame. If the new sign is approved, the applicant will also remove the existing reader board sign located west of the intersection. The Historic Resources Commission (“HRC”) will review the request for compliance with the guidelines for the historic district.
5.B HRC-2024-0055 For possible action: Discussion and possible action regarding nominations for the 2024 Carson City Historic Preservation Awards for outstanding achievements in historic preservation.
Staff Summary: The purpose of this item is to allow the Historic Resources Commission a forum to discuss the selection and recognition of significant preservation efforts in Carson City in celebration of Historic Preservation Month in May.
5.C HRC-2024-0056 For possible action: Discussion and possible action regarding the 2024 Historic Resources Annual Scavenger Hunt. (Heather Ferris, hferris@carson.org)
Staff Summary: Last year, 2023, was the fourteenth year of the Historic Resources Annual Scavenger Hunt. The purpose of this item is to review the event and discuss the future of the event. Commission members are welcome to volunteer to work on the 2024 Scavenger Hunt.
