City Manager
Glen Martel
Prior to accepting the position as City Manager of Carson City, Glen Martel served as Chief Executive Officer for the Nevada Builders Alliance and was responsible for the policies and programs supporting the organization’s 1,100 members. Glen’s extensive background in leadership, management, strategic planning, and economic development spans public and private entities as well as the military. Prior to returning to their long-time home in Northern Nevada, Glen was the City Manager for the City of Live Oak, Texas, located in the San Antonio metro area.
Glen’s distinguished military career spanned over 38 years, where he achieved the rank of Brigadier General in the Air Force. Here he served concurrently as the Assistant Adjutant General – Air for Nevada, and the Air National Guard Assistant to the Director of Logistics, Installation, and Force Protection at the Pentagon. He is a graduate of Air War College and has received a National Security Fellowship from Syracuse University.
Additionally, Glen is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Glen lives in Carson City with his wife of 36 years; his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live in Nevada; his son, a Naval Aviator, lives with his wife in Japan, and as of July 2025, is stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni.
