Robey Willis, Justice of the Peace/Municipal Court Judge
Judge Robey Willis has 25 years of judicial experience handling both civil and criminal cases over his career as Justice of the Peace/Municipal Court Judge for 18 years and Juvenile Special Master/Associate Municipal Judge for 5 years.
He has completed well over 1,000 hours of judicial education earning the Outstanding Judicial Education Certificate (highest achievable level of Supreme Court Judicial Education), the Distinguished Judicial Education Certificate, the Advance Judicial Education Certificate, and the Basic Judicial Education Certificate.
Judge Willis has been actively involved in local and statewide judicial matters such as:
• Chairman of the Mandatory Sentencing Review commission for 4 years (Supreme Court appointment)
• Sole representative for rural Nevada on the “Rose Commission” for 4 years (created by the Supreme Court to review judicial processes)
• President, Nevada Judges Association in 1993 and 1999.
• Member of Nevada Judges Association for 23 years and elected Judge of the Year in 1991.
• Co-chairman/Chairman of the Legislative Committee representing the Nevada Judges Association for 8 legislative sessions since 1989.
• Member of the Nevada State Judicial Council for 6 years (elected by peers)
• Serves on the State Judicial Discipline Commission concerning statewide justice/municipal court matters for 7 years (Supreme Court appointment)
In addition to his judicial experience, Judge Willis, a resident of Carson City for 40 years, has maintained extensive involvement with various organizations, boards, clubs, and associations throughout the community.
