Important information on Personally Identifiable Information (PII):
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is any information that permits the identity of an individual to be directly or indirectly inferred. According to the EAC’s definition, PII includes both direct identifiers (like name or SSN) and indirect identifiers (like birth date or voter ID) when used in combination.
Improper handling of PII can result in:
- Identity theft
- Loss of voter confidence
- Legal liability or regulatory penalties
- System vulnerabilities or data breaches

What can you do to Protect your Personally Identifiable Information (PII)?
There are three different levels of confidential/secure voters and each of those are outlined below:
- Written request: Request to Withhold Address & Telephone Number from the Public | Nevada Secretary of State

General Rules
The following rules apply to all signs located near state highway right of way including NHS routes.
- Political signs must not distract drivers.
- The sign cannot resemble official traffic signs.
- The sign cannot block view of oncoming traffic.
- Political signs erected on private property that is adjacent to a state highway may be erected no more than 60 days before a primary election and must be removed within 30 days after the primary election. Signs for candidates or questions appearing on the general election ballot do not have to be removed until 30 days after the general election.
Apart from state requirements, local governmental agencies can and do have varying criteria regarding
placement of political signs on city and county roads. These local restrictions vary greatly among the various entities and must be checked locally.

Carson City Rules
Political signs are exempt from the provisions of CCDS Division 4 – Signs except as follows:
Any sign denoting the name of any political campaign, charitable organization or religious institution, provided that:
(1) The area of such sign may not exceed 32 square feet;
(2) The height of a freestanding sign shall not exceed 8 feet;
(3) Political signs endorsing a candidate must be removed by the candidate not later than 14 days after the date on which the election for the candidate was held.
Judicial Filing
To run for a judicial office in the State of Nevada, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a bona fide resident of the State of Nevada for two years next preceding the election;
- Be a qualified elector pursuant to Section 1 of Article 2 of the Constitution of the State of Nevada;
- Be 25 years of age at the time of the election; and
- Be an attorney licensed and admitted to practice law in the courts in the State of Nevada, another state, or District of Columbia for not less than 15 years at any time preceding election or appointment, at least two years of which have been in Nevada, if filing for candidacy for the Nevada Supreme Court; or
- Be an attorney licensed and admitted to practice law in the courts in the State of Nevada, another state, or District of Columbia for not less than 10 years at any time preceding election or appointment, at least two years of which have been in Nevada, if filing for candidacy for Nevada District Court.

Appointments are helpful so we may be prepared for your visit and to avoid having to wait to be seen by your Filing Officer, but they are not required. The filing process takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

No matter how the candidate chooses to file for office, the same paperwork must be filled out. These forms are available through the Secretary of State's online candidate filing portal here. To access the forms:
1. Go to this website (The website will be activated not later than October 1, 2025).
2. Enter your information and answer the questions.
3. Once you are done filling out the questions, click "Download All Required Forms" and:a. Go to your filing office on the date of your appointment or as a walk-in. Finish the paperwork there with your filing officer.
b. Print the candidate filing packet and bring it to a Notary Public to notarize the Declaration of Candidacy (it must be signed in front of the Notary). Once signed you may either hand deliver it to the filing officer (recommended) or mail it to your filing officer along with the required fee and identification paperwork (described below).4. If you return the filing documents by mail, you must call the filing office to confirm receipt and to ensure all required documentation and payment has been received.

Please note: there is a $5.00 Tech fee charged at the time of filing.
According to CANON 4 of the Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct, a judge or candidate for judicial office shall not be engaged in political or campaign activity that is inconsistent with the independence, integrity, or impartiality of the judiciary.
All candidates are required to disclose their contributions and campaign expenditures (C&E) with the Secretary of State’s Office. C&E Reports are filed four times throughout the year during an election year, and then annually, if needed. For a more detailed description about C&E Reports, click here.
Each justice, judge, and senior judge is required to file a Financial Disclosure Statement (FDS) with the Administrative Office of the Court (AOC) on or before March 31 for the preceding calendar year of the judge's term. For a more detailed description about the FDS, click here.
Filing For Non-Judicial Office
Monday, March 2, 2026 to Friday, March 13, 2026 (by 5 p.m.)
The Secretary of State is the filing officer for all statewide and those offices that are comprised of more than one county. The county clerk or the registrar of voters is the filing officer for county and township offices and for any offices elected from districts completely within one county or part of one county. The city clerk is the filing officer for city offices.
The Secretary of State is the filing officer for all federal offices except for United States House of Representatives, Districts 1 and 3. The Clark County Registrar of Voters is the filing officer for those federal offices.
When in doubt, we recommend the candidate contact the filing officer to confirm.
