What to Bring
Please bring the following items to your appointment:
✅ Original Surety Bond listing:
- Your name
- Carson City as your county of residence
✅ A valid, government-issued photo ID
- Nevada Driver's License
- State ID Card
- Passport
- Military ID

$20 County Filing Fee

New to Becoming a Notary?
Becoming a Nevada Notary Public is a multi-step process administered by the Nevada Secretary of State.
Step 1
Complete the Application for Appointment as a Notary Public through the Nevada Secretary of State.

Step 2
Complete the required online notary education course.
Step 3
Purchase a $10,000 Original Surety Bond.
Step 4
File the original bond with the county clerk in the county where you reside.
Carson City residents file their bond with the Carson City Clerk's Office.
Step 5
Receive your County Filing Notice.
Step 6
Submit your Filing Notice, application, fees, and any additional required documentation to the Nevada Secretary of State for final appointment.
