Hazard Mitigation Plan

In an effort to make Carson City more resilient, the 2026 Carson City Hazard Mitigation Plan has been updated to provide a basis for identifying and managing natural, human-caused, and technological hazards, and to meet federal, state, and local requirements for hazard mitigation and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation grant funding. The Plan identifies and assesses the risks the City faces from nine (9) natural and three (3) human-caused/technological hazards, and outlines strategies City departments and agencies have identified to reduce the impact of these hazards.

Interested stakeholders and the public have between December 19, 2025, to January 19, 2026, to review and provide feedback on the Plan before it is submitted to the Nevada Office of Emergency Management and FEMA for review. The Plan is available for download below, along with instructions for submitting comments.
