Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Park Ambassador Program
Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is looking for volunteers to assist with the day-to-day operations at our parks. We are looking for volunteers who can ideally spend a minimum of 1 hour each week at the assigned park of their choosing. To see a complete list of parks, see below! Volunteers can assist with a wider variety of tasks, depending on their skill level. Some tasks may include (but not limited to): Picking up trash, weeding, picking up dog waste, reporting vandalism and broken infrastructure, and other tasks dependent on your skillset.

Adopt-A-Spot Program
The Adopt-A-Spot program is an environmental stewardship initiative and a chance for businesses, clubs, families, schools, and other citizen groups to give back to Carson City community by helping with care and maintenance of a trail, park, or even section of the Lone Mountain Cemetery! It aims to build civic pride and involve community members in positive outdoor recreation. Groups who adopt a trail commit to a minimum of 2 volunteer events at their adopted spot per year, with activities based on their spot's specific needs. As a thank you to those who adopt, we put a sign at the trailhead or at the park indicating that the trail has been adopted by your group!
