Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department is proud to support arts and cultural projects and events that enhance the quality of life and cultural vibrancy of our community. Funding may be available for northern Nevada nonprofits to support the execution of one arts and culture project/event or a series of related activities that take place in Carson City, NV. Examples of eligible projects include art exhibitions, performances, and festivals. Please download and review all (3) grant documents before applying. Questions? ELIGIBLE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

 

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS         

  • Must take place in Carson City, NV
  • Performances
  • Festivals
  • Exhibitions
  • Arts workshops
  • Creation of new art
  • Other projects and/or events which support the Carson City Strategic Plan.

 

ALLOWABLE COSTS INCLUDE:

  • Fees for artists or other contractors
  • Production expenses
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Consumable materials/supplies

 

NON-ALLOWABLE COSTS INCLUDE:

  • Any portion of a project that duplicates costs
  • Fundraising efforts such as social events or benefits
  • Hospitality or entertainment expenses
  • Lobbying expenses
  • Implicit religious content that may be perceived as advancing a religious purpose
  • Members-only events or any project/event not available to the public
  • Anything prohibited by law, code, or regulation

 

MATCH REQUIREMENT

Grantees must match the award dollar-for-dollar (100%) on allowable project expenses. Other government funds may not be used as a match for this grant.

 

FINAL REPORTS

Grantees must submit Final Report requirements within 45 days of project completion to remain eligible. Funds are delivered as reimbursement after completion of the project and submission of all Final Report requirements. Awarded funds may be revoked if requirements are not received by the deadline. Final Report requirements:

  1. Receipts for two times the grant amount on allowable project expenses
  2. 3-5 quality photos of the project/event which may be used by the City
  3. Invoice
  4. W9 is required if organization is not already registered as a City-payable vendor

 

RECORD KEEPING

Grant recipients are required to keep copies of the original grant application, associated financial records, supporting documents, and all other records pertinent to any grants for three years after the end of the project.

 

OTHER GRANT POLICIES

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on the scoring criteria included in the application. Grants are contingent on available funding as approved by the Board of Supervisors. Some applications may not be funded, and grant awards may vary from requested amounts.

All Carson City grants are subject to, and contingent upon, sufficient funds being appropriated, budgeted, and otherwise made available. Carson City, as the granting authority, may reduce or terminate grant(s), and the grantee waives any and all claim(s) for damages, effective immediately upon receipt of written notice (or any date specified therein) if for any reason the granting agency’s funding is not appropriated or is withdrawn, limited, or impaired.

Grant recipients may be subject to an on-site audit. Carson City will notify grantees of an audit date at least 45 days in advance.

Carson City complies with all state and federal laws and regulations concerning civil and human rights, including Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975. The City ensures that its programs, grants, and employment practices are free of any discrimination based on race, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or age.

Carson City does not own, collect royalties on, or hold copyrights to artistic products resulting from its grants nor will it take any action on behalf of the grantee to protect the grantee’s intellectual property rights. The City does, however, request from all its grantees the right to reproduce and use documentation of such products for educational, promotional, official or noncommercial purposes, electronically and in print.

All grant materials are subject to being shared and discussed publicly.
