PARK UPDATES

Carriage Square Park is currently closed due to a broken slide. The necessary parts are scheduled to arrive in the next 8-12 weeks, then staff will make the repairs.

Staff are currently replacing 3 tables and 2 benches at Schulz Ranch. Repairs should be complete by Monday April 13th. 

The Fuji Dog Park is back open as of March 31st!

 

 

The playground at Governors Field Tee Ball is closed until further notice due to a broken slide. Staff will order a replacement slide and install it when it arrives. Timeline for re-opening is still to be determined. 

Governors

Sonoma Park will be temporarily closed from March 30th to April 13th for seasonal maintenance, including renovating the turf, addressing irrigation issues, and finishing concrete work along the new pathway on the east side of the park. 

During the temporary closure, City staff will be performing turn rehabilitation throughout the park. This includes aerifying, overseeding, and fertilizing the turf to help it recover from heavy usage. Park staff will also perform an irrigation evaluation to assess the system's performance. Residents are advised that irrigation will be used at irregular hours throughout the day to complete this work. Additionally, Public Works will be finishing concrete work along the new pathway on the east side of the park.

Residents are further advised that heavy equipment may be on-site to perform certain work. For the safety of the staff, the public, and their pets, the park must remain closed during the work. For a list of other dog friendly parks in Carson City explore our carsoncity.gov/parksandrec page!

RECREATION FACILITY UPDATES

The filter replacement project at the Carson City Aquatic Facility is taking a little longer than originally anticipated. We know you're anxious to sue the facilities, so we will be opening the Outdoor Pool, Therapy Pool, and Weight Room on Monday April 13th. The 50M Pool and Tot Pool remain closed, and are anticipated to open the week of April 24th. See below for the operational hours of the currently open facilities:

Outdoor Pool Lap Swim: 

  • Monday-Friday: 5:45am-1:30pm
  • Fridays only: 4:00pm-7:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm

Therapy Pool:

  • Monday-Friday: 5:45am-9:00am, 11:00am-1:30pm, 4:30pm-7:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm
  • **Classes in the therapy pool will be as regularly scheduled.

Weight Room:

  • Monday-Friday: 5:45am-7:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm
