The goal of the Carson City Sheriff's Search and Rescue is to provide emergency search and rescue services to the residents and visitors of Carson City.  We also provide emergency aid and assistance during natural and man-made disasters.  Established in 1962, the Carson City Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (CCSSAR) Team operates under the direction of Sheriff Ken Furlong.  The unit has been called out to search for lost people, locate downed aircraft, secure accident/crime scenes, assist neighboring agencies, and participate in community events such as:

•Cops and Kids

•Sheriff's Night Out

•Nevada Day

•Carson Off-Road, Paydirt, America’s Most Beautiful, and Tour de Tahoe bike races

•Governor’s Mansion Halloween

The CCSSAR Team, though operating under the direction of the Sheriff's Office, is a 501(c)(3) organization and primarily self-funded.  A substantial member contribution is required for personal gear to meet Team requirements.  Community donations are always welcome and much appreciated.  Donations may be sent to the address below.

CCSSAR is always looking for dedicated members.  Application packets may be obtained from the front desk of the Sheriff's Office, located at 911 E. Musser St., Carson City, NV, or downloaded from the “Join SAR” tab on the CCSSAR webpage shown below.  Please turn in completed applications to the Sheriff’s Office front desk.
