About the Carson City Sheriff’s Volunteer Program

The Volunteer program consists of community members who have demonstrated a willingness to maintain a high quality of life in their communities.  These individuals have assumed responsibilities that require them to achieve a higher level of public trust.  Our volunteer program includes both in-house and patrol volunteers.  This allows our volunteers to use their skills and experience to improve the community.  Volunteers can learn about law enforcement, and, through their unselfish acts of community service, help improve law enforcement services.    This agency values the volunteers who work with us and helps us achieve our goal of providing a safe, secure community.  Volunteers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the agency and provide a valuable service to our community.

During 2025, our volunteers have donated over 22,000 hours of service to the Sheriff's Office.  Calculating the national average worth of volunteer work, our dedicated volunteers have saved our county more than $654,720.00.  We are thankful for these individuals who have assumed a position of responsibility through their actions of service.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is very fortunate to be augmented by a large pool of civilian volunteers. We are always looking to expand our volunteer team by adding motivated community members.  Our volunteers assist with a myriad of duties.
